large > space holders

Space Holders were large sculptures made from used cardboard boxes and packaging. The materials were partially transformed but also partially left intact and recognizable. These pieces were vaguely humanoid abstract compositions, hollow husks, with traces of some purpose. The materials used for them are our waste, and there is a lot of it. Large, clumsy things, grown out of proportion, the Space Holders were suspended, both to show a non negotiable presence, as well as a dependance, hinting at responsibility; something or someone must hold them up.
And to continue the life cycle of a cardboard box, the pieces are transitory: they will find themselves in some other life form at one point.
